Camp Wright June the 22 [1861]
Dear Cosin I take the pleasure this morning to write yo a few lines to let you now that I am well at present and hoping that these few lines will find yo in the same state of health I like camp life very well it agrees well with all of us and we are getting fat and lazy we have plenty to eat and not mutch to do Mr Nesbit was up here yesterday and he fetched us a pint of strawberries a pies and we had a strawberry supper but hadent / any cream to them but we had plenty of sugar
this is a nice place and lies hard to the River and the Railroad aint more then fity yards from our tents. we ar getting every thing fixt to order we bilt a cook house and we have two niggars to do our cooking. thre is over four thousand soldiers here it is a nice sight to see them march out in to the field to drill the Erie Band marches in frunt—we have plenty of fun and all kinds of sport ther is all kinds of music you could mention I guess you girls have dry time at home if we dont have to leave before the forth of July the of us / will come home and we expect a good time if we do come the Erie Regiment has got marching orders since I comenced writing this letter they are going to leave hear to day at two o clock but I couldent learn where they were going to
