Lieut Col Oliphant reports from Pottsville that the officers and men of Bat. A N.Y. Artillery sent on furlough to New York have not returned although their time of furlough is out he is anxious to have them back. Is their furlough extended by you or other authorities and will you order them back.
Commander at Pottsville reports that he can not spare any more troops to be sent to Janesville and Yorktown, can not Genl Cadwallader send two or three companies to Mauch Chunk to reinforce Capt Yates, who is now at Beaver Medows with one company of infantry and one of Cavalry
A general strike of the miners in the coal region is feared.
