William R. Carr to John Carr, 22 December 186X
Camp Hicks Md Dec 22nd
(Near Frederick
Dear Father,
I received your letter in due time and was glad to hear from you. I should have written before this time but I have been very busy of late, and have not had time to write any letters! We are building logg houses to live in we expect to quarter here this winter, but perhaps after we get all our houses built we shall have / to move. we are sure of nothing in the Army! I received letters from Sabrina and Sarah last week. All well at G. and H. I also got a box from them boots mittens stockings and towels in it.
I am pretty well provided with everything that I need to wear.
We are encamped about three miles from the city of Frederick one of the oldest cities in the country. some of the soldiers are quartered in barracks built by the English.
Tell Charlie that he had better go to school / all that he can. It is the best thing that he can do! About the money, I wrote to Sabrina to send you some. I suppose you will get it before you do this. I believe I have written all that I can think off at present. Except that I am enjoying good health, and am contented! Give my respects to all inquiring friends. My love to all the family, and Accept this from
Your Affect Son
