(Sabbath Eve 9 O'clock)
Limerick Nov 12th 1865

Dear Daughter
I received a letter from you last evening, which to have was written on friday; I mailed one to you on the same day, in which I requested you to answer immediately. your Mother wants to know for a certainty, whether you intend to come home—according to promise—and take charge of the family, while she is absent. you said nothing about it in either of your two last letters, and we are at a stand, to tell what you intend to do. your Mother says, "tell Mary, that if she dont come, I shall not go, for I cant leave home for two or three weeks, with no other housekeeper but Lucia, and tell her that she must come without fail, for I cant bear the idea of disappointing Lizzie, and forfeiting my own word, for on the strength of her (your) promise, I wrote to Lizzie that she could meet me on the 15th inst. (next wednesday) and I want her to write a letter & send it up by the tuesday mail so that I shall know at noon, tell her she must not fail" so you see just how matters stand; Hattie Chick is going to Biddeford on wednesday & she will take your / garments down to you, if you must have them, but your Mother "does not see the necessity of sending them, if you intend to come home so soon"—that is, I will try & get along without you, untill a week from to day or tomorrow at the farthest that is, tuesday or wednesday. Hattie Chick done the work for you, and you can settle with her for the same; If you have written a letter to day, in answer to my last, so as to mail it on monday, saying that you will be here by the time mentioned above, you need not be particular about answering this. If not you must be sure & send one tuesday morning, so we can get it at noon. dont fail, and you will greatly oblige your father, Mother & Sister; it is late, and I must close this very hasty scrawl from your

Ever Affectionate father

P.S. I believe that Charles is going to write to you, he says that he intends to go up to Boston the first of next month— Yours J.C
