"Farewell," undated
Farewell.
 
            How very few it is that do not comprehend the meaning of the word Farewell. It is a word used when we are departing from our friends, and when we use the word, we should remember that we may never see those from whom we have just departed, for they may be deposited in their mother dust from whence they came, or you yourself may be called for by your God whom you must obey.
 
Soon we who so often, have met in this pleasant schoolroom, must say Farewell; but may we never forget the happy days we have spent together either on the playground; or in the schoolrume where we have received so much good instruction from our kind teachers. There are some persons who never reflect on the time when they departed from their friends such persons do not know how to appriciate the company of good friends though you have been parted long from your friends, you can still reflect on the farewell words which may be consoling to you when in much distress perhaps many of you have heard of persons bidding their friends farewell just before their death this makes their friends feel confident that they are prepared to leave this world and go to one fare better; as my subject is farewell I will bid you all farewell and leave the flore
