Feb 13th 1865
 
 
Dear Sister
 
            I received a letter from you a few days ago and it found me well and I hope that these few lines will find you and all the folks well and I hope that Amis is better and write and tell me all about the folks. well I will tell you about the weather the snow is about one foot deep and it is as cold as the. well I wont tell you how cold it is for I cant but you can guess 
 
Well I got a letter from Ida the other night and she sent her best respects to father and you and I wrote to her last night. Well the boys ar all well that tent with me and Hodgden is getting dinner and Burnham and Hastings is playing just as all little boys ar Well I guess I have wrote enough of that for this time Well I got a letter from Bettie the other night and one from Addie to. well I get as meny letters as I can answer. I came off from picket the night that I got your letter and it was as cold as the Devel. Well dinner is redy and I must stop and eat well I have / got through eating, and I will tell you what I had for dinner well I had hard tack and pork and coffee. Well Father I wrote to Jole the other night and I forget to tell him to send me a pocket hankchief and a silk one to and I dont want but one, and he can send it by mail well you nednot say any thing to him for I will write to him to night and tell him what I want.

Oh I forgot to tell you I have herd from Seymour. there was a deserter come into our lines the night that I was on picket and he said that he see him the next morning and he was all right and was not wounded so you can tell his folks about it
