Dear Wife I take the plesure in riting a few lines to you not to pass off the time but to in form you that I am well and to rite that I goot youre last leter and it was rote the 21 and i goot them postag stamps in it and you rote that you sent me 3 dolers in one leter but I have not goot it it is prity warm here to day and thare are plenty of boys in the water to day swiming and that is sothing that we dont see at home at this time of the year thare aint mutch nues here at presant the reg are at litle Washington now James Youngs is prity sick with infumation in the bowels and thay toolk him to the horsepital the rest are prity well at presant george trin / is well and to work on the fort i cant think of mutch to rite now but I will rite what i cann to day Mister sarfod has gorn out in the wods to day thare is quite a large plantation out thare i went out thare yestady and see it thay toolk a niger out of the river to day that was kiled when the under riter was birnt and thay found the captin of it the other day you rote that you was not vury well and I think that you had beter stay at home and rest for i did enlist to hav you to gow out to work for a living not by a dam site and when i want you to I will tell you of it and then thare will beetime enuff for it and if I was at home i wold find enuff to for a while i recon to keep me in skin if I was as horney as i am now thare are not meny white / women out here that diddle out here in this city but never mind that now give my love to all and to farther and mother to and all of the rest you must excuse my riting to day for i am in a hury now tell farther that I goot his leter to nite and was glad here that thay are all well to at pres but I did not get eny from you and was rather disapoinet to not get eny from you so good nite for the presant this from your
