Dear Sister Brother and Aunt
3 P.M. As I forgot some few things that I wanted sent in the box (if you were so kind as to send it) and I thought that the worth want of them was worth the post stamp I would another letter (I wrote one this morning and put it in the box this morning But the mail dont go before tomorrow.) I want a few more sheets of sand paper. And as my wallet is about played out I should like to have you send me one of them old cotton ones that we used to have round or an old pocket book of some kind, and as I have lost my knife please send me that old Jack knife that grand sir used to have, if you can find it. You asked me some time ago what kind of rations we had well / we have a loaf loaf of flour bread a day and they bake new every day. it is about as large as a 5 cent morning loaf and said to weigh 22 oz. that with salt beef and sometimes potatoes, and we have rice and molasses and dried apple sauce sometimes for supper, that is all I believe O we have some boiled pork once in a while. we have not had any wormy bread at all. Dont put any "good stuff" as Aunt Abbey calls it in the box because the provost Marshall opens every box and takes out all liquor he finds in them. Has Aunt lizzie Lee any middle name I gues I shal write her a letter. there I guess that is all, but if you think of anything more you can put it in the box. Remember me to all inquiring friends and hopeing you are all well I remain your Affect Brother J D Abbott
