Dear Brother
I now have an oppertunity to write thee a fiew lines from a point much nearer home than than has been my privalege in a long time. arrived here yesterday from Beaufort on Steamer Cosmipoliton with about 185 wounded from Morris Isld. I wrote a note to mother about a week ago suppose it has reached its destination e'er this. since then my wound has been doing as well as could be desired I think the small bone of my arm at the sholder is somewhat splintered but it is only a scratch any how to what scores around me received. I have been unable to learn the fate of many of the boys from / from Harrisonville and vicinity. I dont know of but one that was killed to a certainty—Tommie McDowell. Aaron Cole was wounded same day—10th inst—in leg heard from him five days afterwards, then doing well. Stacy Duffle, wounded on the of 14th in right knee—leg since been amputated. he is now in this hospital have not seen him since yesterday afternoon he was then seemed nearly worn out by the fatigue of the passage.

of the wounded on 18th is Levi [?] in left sholder and neck. Elmer Sanders ankle, T White finger shot off are all I am certain of that thee knows we were sent to so many different hospitals I was unable to learn much of them. there was a good many missing either killed or badly wounded and taken prisoners, of this / class are E. Allen C. McCreaf C. Mounce A. Mason J. Clark are among those whom I have heard were missing some of them may have turned up since—

I have but a fiew minutes more time or will be to late for the mail to day. if thee or any body else has the time and inclination to come on to see Duffle and myself we will be most happy to see you we are on the East river about twenty miles above the City visitors are admitted from one to four O'clock PM Sabbaths excepted.

Thy Brother Adam
