Dear Brother
Although we do not often write to each other I dont know as there is any reason why I should not do so this morning though I have not much to write about other than myself. rather an uninteresting topic I will admit. but the fact is I want a little of—the one thing needful. I have been promoted to a Lieutenant and will want some money to get my outfit I would like thee to send me twenty dollars as soon as convenient, and will want thirty or forty more before I go back to the Regt, unless we get paid here, which is / not likely to occur much under three months; owing to some informality in the lost muster the pay master refused to pay the men here until after the next muster. think I shall be able to leave before that time, and expect to take the responsibility to come home for a fiew days—on a 24 hour pass before I go South again. I would like thee to get Lewis Ames or some body else that know how to make good boots to make me a pair calf skin boots with pretty high tops & and double soles. inclosed thee will find the measure. caution them particularly to make them full in the instep and across the toe, and the sole and heel fuller and higher on the outer side of the boot. / I will be at home I think in about three weeks if nothing happens to prevent. am getting along well at present. my shoulder has got down to about its natural proportions, looks & feels as though it would—with ordinary care get well without further trouble. It is two Mos yesterday since we arrived here. I have not yet been outside the hospital grounds but intend going to the City tomorrow.

As dinner is about ready I will close and remain thy brother
