Adon Lippincott to Brother, 8 October 1863
Hospital Fort Schuyler NY
Oct 8th/63
Dear Brother
Thy letter of 4th inst with remitance is just recd I will have time to write thee a fiew lines before the mail closes.
There was a mistake about the measure for boots, as I found a fiew hours after had sent the letter, inclosed it in a seperate envilope and sent it, supposed it would get there about the same time as the letter. thee has doubtless got it before this time.
I am in good health my sholdier is getting along as usual—slowley.
Another load of wounded / from Port Royal arrived here day before yesterday. there was about two hundred of them altogether quite a no of our Regt, but one Co D man (Elmer Sowder) among them. thee probably knows him but fiew of our men are left in Beaufort & Hilton Head hospitals. A. Cole is at the latter place yet. Two days before hospital ship left Port Royal the 24th Mass Vol started for St Augustine to relieve our Regt there. it is supposed the 48th are to go to Morris Isld again.
Respectfully thy brother
Adam
