My Dear Wife
We have had but little chance to mail our letters. Consequently we have written but fiew. I will have a chance to mail a letter in a fiew moments will not have time to write but a fiew lines. We have been here since I wrote you last. I hardly know what to think you will do. I am a little surprised that you have been so quiet this long. I hope you will not stop writing when you hear we have moved, for we have been fortunate enough to get all our letters thus far. I have not had a line from you since the 4th. When will you start over to Pa's. I wish I could go with you but this is impossible. I am on the sick list again. I fear another spell of sickness such as I had soon after the retreat from Corinth Miss. / I feel much better this morning than I did yesterday. hope I shall be well in a fiew days. if not I shall go to some hospital where I can be better cared for than in camp. You must not feel uneasy about me for I am not very sick, and if I get much sick I will write or telegraph to you. We have more cheering news since I wrote you. things is not as gloomy as they were then. Many think the war will terminate next winter. I wish I could think so. If I could go home and stay with my dear little wife untill I was well and kniew the war would close this winter I would be happy. The mail is ready to leave. Much love to all. With many many kisses and oceans of love I am your affect husband Sim.
