My Dear Wife:

                        Tomorrow will be one month since you wrote me your last letter that I have received. What can be the cause of your long silence? I have written to you several letters since then and sent one to Pa's thinking perhaps you were there Mailed some in the regiment & sent some to Chattanooga to be mailed there, and wrote to you since I have been here, asking you to come and spend what time I would have to spend home with me if you could, and if you could not come to write / write to me at once. I wrote to Mr Davison asking him to let me know what had become of you if he kniew, and to have you come to spent three or four weeks with me if you could; but I have been sadly disappointed in not hearing from either you or him, and in your not coming. for a long while I was content hoping that you were well and that the fault was in the mailes! but as I find that others can get letter from that section of country as regularly as ever, I am very uneasy about you, and am very anxious to know the cause of your long silence. If you have determined not to write to me again, I hope you will write / once more and let me know why you have so determined. I was so in hopes that you would come, that I had made myself believe that you would be here yesterday, and went to the cars to meet you, only to find that all my hopes were in vain. I have almost despaird of getting you to come or even getting a letter from you. If you kniew how uneasy I was about you, I think you would at least write me a fiew lines. There is nothing of interest going on here. My health is improveing slowly but I think it will be at least one month before I will be able to return to duty. Write soon to your affect Sim.
