Selwyn E. Bickford to William H. Anderson, 19 June 1865
East Holliston, June 19, 1865

Dear Chum,
I arrived here safely this P.M. and found the expected letters. We engaged a schooner to day as the steamer will not sail until next Saturday, 1st pnx. and we could not wait so long. This vessel sails from Boston Thursday next, so I shall leave that night for New York. I am sorry that I cannot meet you in Boston before I go, but I don't think it possible for me to do so. Tomorrow night I am to go to Mr. Wilders at Grantville and Wednesday night I must be at home. I don't think I shall be so busy the next time that I come home, and we will then make up. I enclose to you Miss Gudrich's card, that you may call upon her in the interim. I know you will be very much edified by a visit there. I also send you the 60¢—I thought it was a dollar, but I take your word for it. Take good heed to your ways and write me often. I owe you one and will write again when I get to the Fort.

Yours truly, S. E. Bickford
