Sarah Frances Bartholomew
Sarah Frances Bartholomew (maiden name: Daniels) was born around 1838 in Maine to Reuben and Sarah Daniels. Her father was a laborer who owned $200 of real estate in 1850. She lived in Somerset County, Maine, until the mid-1850s, when the family moved to Ottawa County, Michigan. She married Arza Bartholomew there on May 21, 1860, and their son Harry was born around 1862. Her husband worked as a farmer. Arza enlisted in the Union army on August 14, 1862, and died of disease in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, on May 8, 1863. Sarah applied for a widow’s pension in July 1863 and secured one soon afterward. She remained in Ottawa County, and she married Benjamin F. Sherman around 1867. He worked as a farmer, and the couple lived in Robinson, Michigan. She died around 1911.
