Dear Sister
I received your kind letter of Mar 1 this forenoon and now sit down to answer it I wrote Mother last sunday. This is a pleasant day. The weather is quite changeable here of late. last night was quite cold. I am in pretty good health with the exception of my ancles which do not trouble me much as long as I do not travel much on them The Hospitals in this city are getting pretty thin as there have been a great many sent to their reg'ts, discharged, taken home to their own / states &c. There was a squad sent from here yesterday of 15 and a number discharged. Mr Gear of our reg't his papers have come and also one other in this room. There are not a great many in this Hospital now. So Uncle Charles has a grand chance I should judge. Did you not get two rings in that letter? I should think that the second reg't would be glad to get home they have seen hard times. There are quite a number in this reg't whom I am acquainted with. While I am writing the clerk has brought up Mr Gear's and another one's discharges I received a letter from Frank Guilford yesterday I hardly know what to write so I will close My love to all.
