Patterson Park Hospital Baltimore Md

Dear Sister
I now sit down to write a few lines. I wrote Mother on Sunday last and also Thos. Gay. I received a letter from Aunt Harriet last thursday and answered it the same day I received a letter from Martha you on the 10th and sent an American home the same day. I received a letter from Father last night dated the 11th He says he has sent two letters from Charlestown in one of which he sent some stamps and gave a description of the foundry in the yard &c. I did not receive the one with stamps in. And I would like to see a description of the foundry and a few stamps In regard to pay. I have over 5 months pay due me I have not been paid since dec 1st and was then paid up to the / 1st Oct I think. I answered Mr Cook's letter on the 15th Feb the same day I received it, as I see by my memorandum.
This is a very wet disagreable day with a high wind. There was a squad of men sent yesterday from here to their reg'ts. I received that slip containing the letter from the 11th reg't which was the first intimation I had of their whereabouts. I am getting along well now I have got a plenty of clothing to much if anything to march with in summer The ladies of the Baltimore Relief Association are very good if any are in want of clothing of some kinds they can get of them. It seems that our fleet did not accomplish much at Charles town I bought an American this morning which has a long and interesting account of the operations from a correspondent. I have it ready to send to Charles. I have been out on a pass once since I have been and was going out to day but it is altogether too stormy. I guess I shall / go over to Fort McHenry next time I go out All three of the forts can be seen from here McHenry Marshall and Federal Hill. But I will close at for the present

Dear Sister
I now sit down to pen a few more lines although I have not much to write. I am still here as you see, and there may be something in the report that we are to stop in Baltimore. We are having a severe rain storm it still continues and a great amount of rain has fallen. I received a letter from Martha Miller to day. Did you not direct the envelope for her? It looked like your writing. Has Mrs. Smith received any letters from the boys since they have been in Kentucky? If so how does she direct her letters. You must write me all the news you can and give me a description of the house and surroundings. I sent that American / to Charles yesterday but I must close as I do not think of much more to write. Write often. My love to all the folks and Grandmother in particular and accept a large share yourself from
your affect' brother
