"My dear Father"
I now sit down again to finish this The reg't received pay yesterday. I received two months pay. An order was received yesterday to be ready with three days rations to march at any moment but it was countermanded so we may stop here a number of weeks. I understand that Capt McGibbon (Assistant Adjutant Gen) went to Head Quarters to protest against sending this brigade on a march as they are so reduced in numbers. Burnside I believe is at Knoxville Tenn and that may be our destination but we may possibly stop in Kentucky to guard some of these towns there is some talk of splitting this brigade up. Lieut Clark starts for home to day with a squad for "conscripts". I received those two newspapers yesterday from home. I have not received the story papers yet. I will send a couple of pictu / res in this. Did you receive that shirt yet that I sent home. I sent the shirt that I got at Jackson by mail while in Covington you did not write that you had received it But I will close as I have not much news to write Give my love to Grandmother and all the rest of the folks. Write often from your Son William.
