James P. Anderson to Thomas M. Jack, 3 August 1863
Hd Qrs Andersons Brigade &c
Taylors Store Ala. Aug 3rd 1863.

Major
Nothing of importance this morning. Enemy had a Cav. Scout of about 75 men in Sweetens Cove yesterday. A locomotive with a few flatcars were at Bridgeport yesterday evening and took a company or two of men back with it toward Stevenson—perhaps a detail to work on road between Stevenson & Bridgeport.
Our Signal Corps here is quite a success.
