            I am directed by Genl. Mackall to inform you that the enemy has thrown a pontoon bridge across the Tenessee river at the mouth of Lookout Creek.
 
            The [paper hole] has just been received from [paper hole] Anderson, Taylors Store 5.30 PM
 
            "Enemy in force on North Bank of the river at Alley's Ferry apparently and planting artillery apparently preparatory to opening."

            You will have detailed from the Cavalry Escorts Officers Command a suitable number of men under charge of an intelligent officer, to scout the banks of the Tenn River to night between this Harrison.
 
            The officer in charge should be required to report by courier every two hours.
