Colonel,
Will you please notify me as soon as practicable what arrangement has been made by the Lieut Genl to relieve the two Regiments which I have out on picket duty—one on the farther side of Lookout Mountain, and one between our lower Battery and Chattanooga Creek; the one reporting direct to Army Hd. Qrs, and the other to me. I should be glad if they could be relieved at once so as to march with the rest of my command at daybreak.
I would also ask [paper hole] from my command [paper hole] Hd. Qrs., may be returned [paper hole] Division has been much weakened by the transfer of Walthall's Brigade.
