William H. Weirick to Mary A. Weirick, 28 March 1865
Annapolis Md.
March 28th 1865
Dear Sister:
I find that to be an officer it requires a good deal of money. I must find all things necessary to an outfit Please send me $20 by return mail if you possibly can spare it. I will give it back to you during the summer sometime. My pay is increased it amounts to about $125 or $130 a month instead of $110 as formerly / I think I can manage to save about $50 or 75 per month. However for the 1st or 2nd month I may not be able to save much
Send the money as I will need it badly.
I board at a private house as does most of our officers. We pay eight dollars a week.
