My Dear Sister
                                    I take this oppertunity of writeing a few lines to you my health is good & I trust this may find you and your husband enjoying the same I have ben looking for a letter from you for the last three weeks but it appears you have forgoten me I do not know whether I insulted you in the last letter I wrote or not if so I can not help it you appeared to be very anchious in your last letter to keep a correspondence with me and I do not see why you quite now Charley Krotzer told me that your husband wrote me a letter but I never received it / I suppose it was miscaried some way by the mail
 
you stated in your last letter you would like to have my likeness if so I wish you would send me the money to get it taken with as I have not now got the money to support my little famely if you will send me a cupple of dollars I will get it taken & send it to you. I would also would be very glad if you would send me your likeness & your husbands
 
we are still doing guard duty along the rail road we have had very fine weather hear but it is raining to day
 
Dear Sister I have nothing more of importance to write as you will get all the war news in the papers please answer this as soon as it comes to hand I still
