Thomas L. Hatton to Catharine A. Hatton, undated
[fragment]

Kate did you get the letter that I sent you that had one inside for Aunt Nancy and if you did get it did you send it to her I did not know how to direct a letter to her so I sent it to you. Kate the money that I sent up this afternoon went by one of our Sergeants and I want you to write to me as soon as you get the money so that I will know if you receive it. Write soon and let me know how all the folks are getting along there is a talk of our regiment being moved away from here some say that we will be sent on some of the expeditions that are fitting out now but / it is hard to tell if we will leave here soon or not, but I do think that we will move somewhere or other very soon but there cant be much done while the roads are in such condition for the wagons cant haul wood for to cook with for they sink in to the hubs and it takes six mules to pull a wagon with a half load on I am glad the dutchman is going to make the boots with long legs I hope that you told him to make them big enough for me so that they will not hurt my feet and large in the legs so that I can put my pants in them

Yours Tom
