Head Quarters, Camp Meigs
Readville Dec. 15th 1863.
 
John E. Gillespie, a private in the 56th Mass. Regt,, of artillery, who has been re-examined by the Medical Commission appointed by the Commander-in-Chief, through the Surgeon General, and was declared unfit to perform the duties of a soldier because of defective Eyes, has been freed from his enlistment by special orders from these Head Quarters; and having given up all U.S. property delivered to him, is hereby permitted to leave this post.
