Jesse Hildebrand to Andrew W. McCormick, 7 November 1862
Head quarters 77th Regt OVI
Alton mil prison Novr 7th 1862
Capt A.W. McCormick
your letter of the 13th inst was received by me a few minutes ago and I hasten to inform you that I have not the power to grant furloughs; But I think you are perfectly safe to remain where you are; as you most assuredly will be exchanged soon, and if not, you had better report yourself at Washington city, and ask for an extension of your furlough
Give my best respects to Mrs Mac; I am well;—the Lieut Col W. De Hass is here with me & is well
yours truly
J Hildebrand Col Com post
