Andrew W. McCormick to Alice J. McCormick, 15 November 1863
Little Rock Nov 15, 1863

My very dear Wife
I received your excellent letter of the 1st, but I have no time to reply at length as I am on my way to Pine Bluffs, to guard a train of provisions, and have stopped at Lt West's quarters, at the Depot, to write this note. I am very well, and hope to be back in five or six days when I will write you one of my long letters, with "my usual ability."

I am mounted, so the march of 50 miles down the river, and 50 back will not be very hard.

            In haste, dearest,

As ever yours
AW McCormick

We have 30 wagons and 100 men along.
