June 18, 1864
My very dear Wife
I am still here and quite well—as are also Capt McKitrick, and Lieuts. Smithson, Henry, Flemming, Smith, Fulton, and Marlow Regiment in good health generally. We live better here than prisoners in Georgia did. I hope we will be exchanged soon. The 77th fought nobly at Marks' Mills.
With much love to you and my dear children, and kind regards to friends, I am as ever
devotedly yours
A.W. McCormick
Capt 77th O.V.V.
