Military Prison
Tyler,Texas, June 20, 1864
My very dear Wife
I have written you often since we were captured, and hope you will also write frequently. I am quite well, and Capt McKitrick, Lieuts. Henry, Smithson, Flemming, Fulton, Smith and Marlow are also. The health of the 300 77th boys here is good. All those you know are well, except Fred Booth. He has eresypelas; but is getting better. I had many letters to you in the Camden mail that was captured. I have not been sick since you heard from me, except a few chills soon after taken prisoner. Say to Emma, Frank, Lee and Lynn that Pa thinks of them and loves them ever so much. Rev. Chaplain Hare, 36th Iowa, will take this, as Chaplains, Surgeons and citizens are released to start to-morrow. Much love to all of you. I sent Col. Mason a list of killed, wounded and prisoners.
As ever yours
A.W. McCormick, Capt 77th O.V.
