To day is a leasure day so I will write a few lines to you to let you know I am well and injoying myself We dont do much we drill four hours in a day and some times a little guard duty About half of our Company has drew horses but I have not drew mine yet them that drew horses are out on drill and you would laught to see them they never drilled on horses bfore so they make awkward work of it Williamson Buell drew / a gray horse looked some like the one he had when he was at home we laught at him & told him he had got the same old gray Sherman I wish you could be here about one week and see the doings here and see them all come out on dress parade This is a large camp here whare all of the dismounted cavalry camps I guess wallace is in the regiment for if he was dismounted he would be apt to be here
I probly shall see him before long for we are going in to that regiment Sherm how did camp meeting go did you go If it rained as hard as it did whare we was you / did not have much of a time. how do you get along gethering in crops I supose you had a nice time pulling beens with old Sterns to tell you how The news just come that our captain & first Lutenant to our company were taken prisoners I will tell you how they happen to be taken. They went from here a few days ago to take a squad of Soldiers to harpers fary and was picked up by some rebs If they had stayed with our company they would been all right They was not ableaged to go they volinteard to take charg of them They was coming back in a few days / but I guess they will stay a spell
Tell Mother not to worry about me for I am well and have enought to eat
tell Father I want him to see what he can make of that colt so when I get back I can say he has got the best colt in town
