William Young to John J. Young, 26 June 1865
Louisville Ky. June 26th/65.

Dear Brother,
I will write you a short letter to day as it has been some time since I last heard from you. I believe the last letter I recd from you and ans'd was at Washington D.C. The last accounts from home folks all well. We are all enjoying our usual measure of health here Hope you are also in health. We left Washington City on the 15th Ins't. by B.&O.R.R. and arrived at Parkersburg Va. on the evening of the 17th. Laid over night and took Steamer Minerva next morning for Louisville where we arrived on the 20 Inst./ We expect to stay here for a few weeks yet. There is ten months pay due us and one installment of bounty. Our pay rolls have been made out and signed, for eight months. We will be paid off in a day or two. All kind of rumors are afloat as to us being mustered out of Servise. The latest is that the (1862) Veterans will be mustered out in a few weeks, that would include us. Our Reg't is getting furloughs, for ten days, at 20 per cent, not including one year recruits. ten or eleven will go from our Co. none have gone yet they are waiting for pay.

I am not going this time I did not put my name in. I will try and go providing we don't get mustered out soon

I would just as leave stay in the Servise till our time is up (17) months If I go home a few days on furlough.

I have no news to write only that (Betsy Waters) formerly of Independence was married to a Widower and seven children. Please write on receipt of this and let me know if you are going to stay your time out and what you are going at when you go home.

Write soon. No more, But
Remain your
Affectionate Brother
William Young.
