My Dear wife
After my best respect I seat my self once more this side of the grave to drop you a few lines to in form you that I am well at present and hope that thes few lines may find you and children well I dont now how to write to you hardly for I have never got but one letter from you it would releave my mind very much to get a letter from you at this time and at all times I Doo my wife write every chance you can get to me write how every thing is going on at home I am ankish to hear from all once more iwent to church to day and head a good sermont preach I would like to hear how my little ones and my darling is getting on and how they are sattisfied about me the chance for furlow is very bad at this time but I hope it will soon be better a gain they are going to appoint me Comesay hear and it will clear me from all duty I wont be in enny danger then doo they appras my horse at 225 dollars doo take care of your self and children for me I never node how good I love you and them tel since I came hear May god ever bless my dear ones at home
My Dear I will drop another line or too as long as it is the only plesure that I see hear I sent one wednesday morning last but I heard that the mail at Rumps Bridge had broke up. I dont now wether it is so or not do My Dear write me word wether it is so or not I wrote Tel mah to get them hogs for me doo My Dear wife take care of your self and children for mee I am getting along very well as well as could be expected I cant compose my mind as well as I could if you would write to me when you can the mail come hear try wekley write me letters send it to Blufton Post Office SC in the care of captin Smith Beach Hill Ranger I send you one dollar and you must not send it back I have turn barber hear I shinggles there heads for them at 5 cts a peace I will make a nuff money at that for my use I never want enny or only to mail letters with give poor little James that dog nife for me Tel him and george Pap will come home as soon as he can kiss them for Pap god bless you all for I will never forget my prayr to god shal ever extend to heaven for you and them may he ever bless you all I dont now how to close my letters take care of your self and dont fret for my sake / May god bless you and children for I supose you would like to now some thing about the war I dont now what to tel you about it for I dont now it may soon be quiet again and the yankeys may never come out hear wher we is we have picket out all the time on watch for them if I will be clear of going on picket now my wages will be some 20 00 dollars amonth we get a plenty to eat for our selves and more than our horse can eat we have a very social company and all the solder are cleaver fellow My Dear wife I want you to take every thing with as much pacient as posible you now My Dear that I am in the hands of god he will take care of me hear as well as hear as at home and I now that god will take care of you and my little ones I put my trust in him if the yankeys comes in Blufton we will go out and there wont be enny danger of them taken ous prisners hear I will come to a close now My Dear I will commit you and little ones in the hands of god to take care of you and children May he send a comforting angel to guard you through life uncaring ways Bless you all give my love to all my friend your affectionate Husband untel Death Henry H.
