My dear wife After my due respect to you and children I drop you a few lines to in form you that I am well at present Praying that these few lines may fine my darlings well and gitting along the same I have nothing of importance to write to My Darling this time I hear from you so long of time a part that my mind is verry much toarn up and under too lazzay a man to talk if he could help it it graves me to think that there was not a man in this company no smarter than he is, thou thank god that he has nothing to do with me now As long as I am Comesary it is a grate deal of troubble to attend to but it clears me from all duty I have not drill sence John come home nor went on enny duty neither My Dear when Sister Mary sends letter send yours in her invelop and it will save your money I will be short this time hoping that god will preserve you and my sweat little ones from all danger and enable My Dear wife to bring up my little ones in the way that they should go May god bless you all and preserve me for there sake I will pray for my house hole all ways and you must pray for me while I am in this desolation May god preserve ous all and spear ous to meet and live many a long year to gether Long a nuff to rais my poor little ones and see them take up their cross

And follow him My Dear wife you must not fret about me nor lett nothing trubble your mind for my sake it is the request of your darling husband to take care of your self and children for me May god bless my darling wife and children We get a plenty to eat hear Poark beef chickens ducks eggs and flour rice bacon sugar coffee candles soap and every thing that we want to live on hear but that dont satisfy me hear I would rather live home on day home than hear on pound cake May god bless you all Tel Mah and all houdy for me Tel dave houdy for me and all my friends to there is a few cases of measel hear there aint eny close to our Company thou I hope you wont get them I have nothing worth to rite about at this time Tel Mother houddy for mee and all the family for me I will tell my darling thanks for them legins she sent me I will come to a close now puting my dear ones in the care of god praying that god will guid guard rule and direct you all ways in the path ways of duty ever shielding you from all harm.
