Camp Jeffords. Green. Pond. Jan. 11th 1863
Dear wife After my best love to you and children I seat my self once more this side of the grave to in form you that I am well again thank god for it I am truly sorrow to hear that Pahs little ones is still sick though I pray to god for them that he may shield them from all harm and Pahs darling wife well I trust that I may soon get off to come home and stay a while I see in Saturday paper that the French fleet has reach Neworlens France has reckoniseing ous as fast as she can I think the war will soon end thou it will be a good while before we get all home I would be glad if you can get John gruber to see Mrs Spell a bout that negrow as soon as posible If you cant get one to plow get one of some sort that can help you some way or another I think I will get off this week home I trust so / I suffer a great deal in mind about you since I heard you was sick though I hope that god will bless my darling ones at home and bring me back to them a gain May god bless my dear ones at home is my prayr I must close by putting you in the hands of god god bless my swet ones at home
