Camp Jeffords Green Pond
March 5 1863             
 
Dear wife after my best love to you and children I drop you a few lines wich I trust may find you all well as it leaves me at this time I have nothing of interest to write at this time they have John Adams in the guard tent for cursing John Jaques I will rite all the [?] of it to morrow now I have to go down to Fieldses Point this morning to shoot our guns to make the yankeys think we have a large force out hear the have ben fitting at Savannah 2 days but they aint done eny thing yet I could not get off to come to the sale to day the Major had orders not to let no one go / Get James to come down soon as you can have some one to plant the sugar cane for you tel I can make some outher arrangements about these things I must be short this time take care of your darling selves for me Pray for me I want to see you all so bad May god bless you all is my prayr for his name sake
