Camp Charleston May the 4/63
 
Dear wife after my best love to you and children I seat my self once more this side of the grave to drop you a few lines wich ihope may find you all well as it leaves me well at this time we are station in Charleston about 100 yds from the post office, in a large house we have 2 picket post to guard wich takes about 20 men and guard duty wich is lite Smith commence giving furlows to morrow six at a time I dont now when my tern will com thou I hope soon there are a good meny of our men went to Maddam Salva and she said that we would be home in 8 months safe I had a notion of going to her my self but I dont now wether to do it or not I went to Church to day Brother Huckins preach for ous he is so glad to see me at eny time he said he will all way pray for me and you Put your trust in god my sweet one and he will take good care of ous Pray with out seasing and in all things give thanks to god who is able to save and that to the utmost Dear wife rite soon as you / this and let me hear the news Tell all the folks houdy for me that iquires about me Let me now if Mah went to see that woman or not and let me hear wether she did come or not maby if she dont you mite get Miss Canty eny how I trust that you may get some one to stay with you for it is a grate truble to me for you to stay by your self so long and no one at all but we must trust to god for protection and pray to him that this war may not last much longer that I may be a white man a gain so that I can go where I please My dear you must not be oneasy about me this is a tolerable safe place to stay in we can go when we please in the town thou i hope you will be chered with the hope of God to take every thing that come in good patiens and say the will of god be done I dont think that there will be eny danger of we going off eny furder There was 4 Company left here whos place we fill they went to George Town so my sweet one dont fret nor be oneasy about me kiss Pahs little ones for him and save a good share of it for your self I pray that god may be with you in all of your trubles
