Dear wife after
my Dear wife best love to you and children I adress you with a few lines wich I trust may find you all well as it leaves me quite well again I nip the fever yesterday and is improving tolerable for again I went out to day to see a man shot wich was a terable seen it was witnessed with 2 or 3 thousand soldiers and lots of spectators to look on he was shot for joining companys and runing of and going in others as a substitute he was marched round the square with 2 bands of musick then the preast prade with him and then he nelt down on his coffin and was shot ded six balls put threw him Dear wife there is much talk of peace now in town the papers speak of it Lord send the time would soon come so that I could come home a gain Dear wife take care of you darling self for me I will try and come home as soon as I can get off you must not be oneasy about me I trust that god will be with hear that poor man was shot did not mind it at all he did not appear like he carde for it / then I trust that God had pardon his sins he looked like a smart man he was six feet and 3 inches dress very fine didont think he had eny family at all May God keep our men from such is my prayr Dear one I would like to get a letter from you now to hear from my dear ones at home May peace soon be made I dont now how home looks hardly now Dear rite and let me hear from all how things get along yet we get plenty to eat now and our horses too My Dear sugar dont be oneasy about me I dont think they will ever pay ous off I have a grate deal to tell you about when I come home a gain my dear the war must stop soon I think thou we cant tell Dear wife I write to often and get letters seldom Nothing more at present May god bless you and keep you from all harm is the prayr of your Loving Husband untel Death
