Dear wife after my best love to you and children I avail my self once more of this opportunity of writing you a few lines wich i trust may find you all well as it leaves me much better than than I was thou far from well yet I have been in the Hospital evry since I got back to town I have got the bred yet not eat and imust I was taken very sick that nite the nite before I got to oncle williams and thowed up and the furder I went the sicker I got I like not to of got back to my picket post thou by the help of god I got back safe I am taken quinine now and fever powders I think I will be well again in a week or two / I cant eat nothing hardly I dont now what I would of done if it had not been for that butter poor little Anney give me I am as poor as you ever saw me nearly throwing up and working down boath is so weakening but you must not be oneasy about me I trust that I will soon be able to go about again I will take care of my self the best I can and you must do the same I will come home the first chance I get dear wife do not fret your self about me if I get bad off I will let you now may god bless you all is the prayr of your poor Husband untel Death
