Dear wife After my best love to you and children I seat my self once more to drop you a few lines wich itrust may find you all well as it leaves me well again thank god first Pah wants to see you and children mity bad I will try and come home soon as i can get off we are not detached yet but we are looking for it every our I think that we wont be disapointed but if we miss then we will try some where els thou I think it is all rite you must rite to me as soon as you get this I will send you some post stamps gust as soon as I can get our money wich we expect to get it to day but we dont now when if we speak to a man here we have to wait 2 or 3 days for answer from him /
 
My dear you must take care of your darling self for the love that you have for me and children I trust that this war will not last all ways Maddam Salva ses the war wont last long that it will end soon and that I will get out of this place and that I will better my self too will make more money she said I would be out in 7 days or less time I now that she did not now that I had applied for a detachment so itrust that god may be with me help me through the yankeys taken 6 of our picketts on Jas Island yesterday My dear pray for your poor Loving Husband I am poor in hart and in flesh now I am reduce down by sickness thou i feel like i will soon regain it back May god bless you all is the prayr of your Loving Husband untel death H.
