My dear wife I take this opportunity of addressing you with a few lines wich i trust may find you all well and in good spirits i am well i have nothing much to rite at this time the yankeys is still trying Charleston with shell but dont make much out at it My dear wife I have rote to dave to see if he cant let you have one Hundred $ to buy corn if he cant I can get it from Lt willis tel I can sell my horse you better try and get it rite off Old Solls wants 2.50 for his corn you better get Mah to see him Mabey she mite get it from him for less Try and get it with the shuck on if possible dont sell the surup i will try and make arrangements for some thing to eat for my little ones and you Let me no if John Rogers let you have eny corn and at what you better give 2.50 than to miss getting enny at all Corn is scarce every where. you must get 50 bushels eny how now and if I can I will get more i sent word back to old man willis to see if i could get eny his or not My dear write and let me no how every thing gets a long I think i will get 5 days or more Jas Ackerman promis to give me 5 days of his furlow or give me / a hole one of the deserters if he gets eny of them John Addams made his jack by taken Bridge and Robertson he got 60 dollars and 40 days furlow he give 20 days to Risher and the rest to Jas Ackerman I reckon tho Bridge and Mrs Robertson will think prety hard of Addams My dear dont sign eny thing against John Gruber you have few friends a nuff it is rite though for him to be in service but I dont want you to have eny thing to do with it they are working to get him out wich i think they will succeed. you must not let eny one see this nor mension eny thing about John Gruber or John Addams either I will enclose 15 dollars in this letter
My dear wife rite to me take care of your self and little ones May the Lord be with you and little ones our mutiny broke up kiss pahs little ones for him Oh how i want to see them all once more Pray for your poor darling Husband Nothing more at present but rite soon.
