My dear wife this will inform you that I am up but not able to be up such a cold and head acke and slow fever but I trust i will not get down. I dont have to go out on duty now we expect to moove to addams run in a few days more 3 Company of ous. When we moove and get fixed you can come down to Martins and see me then we will get rid of James Island I hope soon. I dont think that there is eny danger of ous going off again May the Lord be with ous My dear dont be oneasy about me I will take the best care of my self that i can and you must do the same Dont forget to pray for me Crocker is still alive Bratt is in his hut but that is all /
My dear there aint eny news in camp worth ritting We only got 2 men killed and 18 wounded and 8 horses killed that was on Johns Island
My dear you must rite soon and long May the Lord be with my sweet darling wife and little ones keep them from all harm give them long to live and bred to eat is the prayr of your Loving Husband tel Death kiss Pahs little boys for him I trust that I may see them be fore long. Tel all houdy for me nothing more but I remain your Loving Husband untel Death H. H. Hill
