January the 22 1864
My dear wife I hope this will find you all well I am well again My dear I am truly sory to hear that you cant get eny corn they tel me that old Saul has corn to sell to Soldiers wifes I now if you cant get Jimy to get it try John Waker and offer him money plenty and I now he will do it My dear it distresses me to hear from you in that way you never rote me word whether you was out or not I am anxious to now I will get Ben Spell to see old Saul and now posetivily about it it looks like some boddy mite doo some thing for me nowing that i am in Service / you must try and get corn if you have to give five dollars per bushel and give some at a dollar a bushel to hall it Try old man Hyatt he will work for money you have some home dont starve while it last and by the time it is gone maybe I can have some more for you Try John Guber he can let you have some fodder I now the colt must have plenty to eat if i can posibbly get off I will do so My dear wife you must do the best that you can it aint worth while to rite to Brown it is too far I trust I can get home soon to fix things see weeks and get him to tend to it ask him as a favor from poor me Lord help ous rite me all and strait things so i can under stand I remain your Loving Husband
