My dear Wife this will in form you that i am well as common and i hope this may find you well and all the rest of the children i am far from being well but i am at my work i am botherd with a pain in my brest that i dont like it hurts me to trot a horse or gallop one i received your letter dated the 11 yesterday and i was truly glad to hear from you all and to hear of James being better than he was Every thing is quit at present with ous the picketts make a brake every now and then but they dont mean eny harm by it i dont think My dear is buarys little girl going to stay with you or not. times is very hard with ous hear now very little to eat but i hope it wont get eny worse than it is now our fellows steal hogs but i never get eny of it i dont like to steal but i reckon i will have it to doo some of these days be fore too long i dont care how soon we get back S.C. but we may never get back/ but things is a little briter than they were some time ago i wish peace could be made so that i could get home a gain i never wanted to see my dear Wife and little ones as bad in my life be fore i hope it wont be too long the lord noes best what will be best for ous and i beleive he will end this war time a nuff for ous i will try and make my self satisfied and do the best i can and wate the lords motion on it he will end it in due time May heven bless ous and spair our lives to see the end of this war and to have many happy days to gether in peace again Tel little James his pistol is a yankey pistol i give a 7 shooter rifle for it a Spencer Rifle one we captured the enemy is very still now they will make a brake soon on ous i expect Ceep a good hart my dear one and put your trust in god i hope the time will soon come when we may meet in peace to part no more May god bless you and them little ones and give you strength and grace sufficient to stand all your truble My trubles has taken all my sences a way nearly Sam Croft has join the church So fare you well your H H Hill
