My dear Wife and Little ones i once more take pleasure of ritting you a few lines wich i hope will reach you in due time and find you all well as it leaves me up My dear i have nothing new to rite at present I have not herd eny thing more a bout our horses yet We will now soon what will be done a bout them My horse is mending like a pig we get as much corn and fodder as they will eat for the first time sence we have been in Va
 
My dear you must rite me word if you got the yanky soap and little axe I sent by Mr Jaques I am a fraid that Sharman will get the R Road at Branchville and then i cant hear from home it is very likley we will meet him if he starts threw SC Butler will meet him and show them fellows / how to fight they dont now how to fight in SC and go or the yanks would not of gone where they please. I hope the war will soon end but i am all moste give up never to see a nother days peece on earth My dear I dont now what to rite eny more i have rote so much But you must not let me discourage you god is able to doo all things and we must look to him for protection We cant tel how long peace is off it may be even at the door. So let us take courage and pray on god will hear ous after a while and i hope soon too. i will make every effort to get home and then i will report to [paper fold] you must rite immediatly to me and let me no evry thing Direct to Belfield Va Co C 5th S.C. Cav Butlers Brigade A.N.V. i have sent a cury comb and brush by Allen it is yankys own take care of it and it will last a long time to use so good bye sweet ones HHill
