Dear Mother & father it is with the greatest of pleasure that I seat myself to write you all a few lines which leaves us all well at this time hoping these few lines may find you all well Mother I have seen more than I ever had any idea of seeing we are all doing fine now but we are now in Richmond we will leave here to morrow if nothing happens to go to the boys we are now in 60 miles of them they are at Fredricks City Va they have fallen back from dumfries we had to leave our boxes at Wilmington North carolina Marion & two of our other boys stayed with them they will be here to day or to morrow / if nothing happens Mother I have passed off that dollar bill that you give me that was no count I have not got time to write any so I must close by saying I remain your son until death
