Dear Sir
Yours of the 25th November just came to hand which I am glad to receive and to hear of your health, good crops &c I did not know whether to wright to you or not as yours was so long on the road and you expect to be here in January therefore I thought my letter would not reach you before you left, but thinking again you might not start as soon as you spoke of I would procede to wright to you. I can inform you that we are all well at present and hope these lines will find you all enjoying the same state of health—of what money I have collected and is comeing to you is some forty dollars or more, which the greater potion of it will be ready for you. forty five dollars of the rent for 1841 on G. W. Beloate, T. C. Bass securiety I have not collected and cant as he T.C.B. has taken the bankrupt oath I sued them as soon as due and they stayed it by G. W. Stewart and the day before the stay was out T. C. Bass and G. W. Stewart went down to memphis and taken the oath. Bass says he will pay it. I have D Wares and J. W. Koens note for this years 1842 rent for fifty dollars not paid yet. I have rented it again for next year 1843 for sixty dollars. from these statements you may know how things are. I have not discribed all of our business as it will be done when you come / as I have every thing set down in order. crops here is verry good. corn is better than they ever was before since I have bin here. cotton yeald from 8 to 12 hundred lbs to the acre. all other things plenty except money, it is hard to come at. Produce and prices corn is worth from $1. to $2. per barrell bacon to 5 cents pork 2 to 2½ cents flour $3.50 per barrell whiskey from 16 to 20 cents per gallon cotton 4½ to 5 cents all other things in perpotion I would have rote more but time would not permit at present as I expect the stage along and I dont want to miss it the health of the people are good.
