At Quihi near D'Hanis 4 families killed by Ind about 1847 their homes burnt & looted Feather beds empted & ticks put on horses One woman & two boys put on horses one 11 & other 9 The 9 yr cried so the Ind killed him The older boy would not cry for fear Ind would kill him When near our house the mother woman jumped off horse ran into brush to our house Ind shot her in arm with arrow. (Brinkofs) Grand father grandmother son & wife [?] & wife were killed two young children killed thrown against tree

We heard the people screaming & Ind yelling /
 
some were burnt in houses Mother pulled arrow out of woman She was so heart broken, said her mother & father brother in law & wife killed & 2 nefews were taken off one 9 yr killed and she wanted to go back to old country Her father watching for ducks at a pond sitting behind bush Inds saw him & filled him with arrows killing him the people in D'Hanis made up enough money to go home. These people were all related.
Mother washed out the wound of the woman & put turpentine. She got well. Then went to Castroville.
