Edward Clark to John A. Wilcox, 16 April 1861
Executive Department
Austin, 16th April 1861.
To Jno. A. Wilcox Esq.
San Antonio,
Sir:
A communication was recd some days ago, respecting Lieut Wm C Adams, and his Company, now in the service of the State, and I am requested to send my reply to it to yourself.
I was not aware of Lieut. Adams position in the service, until some time after the appointments as enrolling officers were made; which appointments, as you are aware were suggested and controlled by the delegations in the Convention and legislature. It is to be hoped that he will be able to incorporate his men into the service in one of the Companies now being enrolled. Until Col. Ford and his forces on the Rio Grande are heard from officially nothing definite in regard to Lt Adams can be done by me.
Very Truly Yours,
Edward Clark
