Joseph A. French Statement, 19 October 1861

Know all men by these presents that I Joseph A French of the said county of Bexar & State of Texas have made constituted and appointed and do by these presents make constitute and appoint James R Sweet of the county and state aforesaid my true and lawful attorney for and agent for me and in my name to receive and receipt for all monies due and to become due to me on account of beef furnished by me to the Third Regiment of Sibley's Brigade under my contract with P. T. Browrigg Apt Comy of Subsistance to said Brigade dated 2d day of September 1861. I hereby declare this power irrevocable empowering my said agent to do and perform all things lawful and necessary to be done in the premises as fully and validly as if done by me in proper person. In testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name this 19th day of Oct 1861
