Sarah Ann Davis (maiden name: Parks) was born around 1813 in England to Joseph Parks and Sarah Ballard. She was baptized in Luddesdown, England, on October 10, 1813. She immigrated to America sometime before 1832 settled in New York. She married Salem R. Davis, and they had at least six children: Benjamin, born around 1832; Salem, born around 1836; Charles, born around 1840; Edwin, born around 1842; Winfield, born around 1847; and Sarah, born around 1849. They lived in Southold, New York, and Salem worked as a painter. They owned $800 of real estate in 1850 and $1,000 of real estate a decade later. By 1880, they were living in Greenport, New York, and she was helping care for her elderly mother. That year’s census listed her as a “physician.” She died in Greenport on April 16, 1891.
